Coming Soon - Mortal Kombat

I know most of my posts on here are about movies... and I know I need to start doing some more personal posts on here like I had originally planned, but I just haven't wanted to speak out(well, I have, but you need words first)...

BUT I decided to do a video game post... the one game I have anticipated the most in a VERY LONG TIME... I'm talking about.........

MORTAL KOMBAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jump with me...

For those of you not playing the home game, this is the newest Mortal Kombat game(or course), refered to sometimes as Mortal Kombat 9, this is the first released by Warner Bros. Games, but under the old Midway crew, now known as Netherrealm Studios......

The last game MK game Midway made before going under was the strangely developed Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, pitting the MK Warriors against some DC heroes and villains, giving us fights like Scorpion vs Batman & Sub-Zero vs Superman... it was also the first Mortal Kombat to get a T(Teen) rating as all the others before it were M(Mature) rated... Purist might've been alittle worried, maybe even miffed... but I liked this game, it was something fresh, it brought the series back to 2D, and it was very detailed in being true to the material, going as far as the DC Heroes being unable to perform Fatalities, because they wouldn't kill, but using something else...... it was definitely a taste of things to come......

Now here we are for the NEW Mortal Kombat, less than two weeks away, I am seriously marking out for this game... April 19th isn't coming soon enough...

Let me share with you what I have found out so far...

First: What to expect...

Mortal Kombat is not for the feint of stomach, known for it's over the top Fatalities, this one looks to be no different... this one has earned it's M rating while making it make sense, something that wasn't there for the MK3 series(including UMK3 and MKT)...... but the gameplay is nice, I thankfully own a PS3, so I downloaded the free demo, and it is definitely nice to play a 2D Mortal Kombat again......... but aside for the blood, gore, and ass-kicking, what is to be expected?...... there will be the traditional arcade Ladder mode, the addition of Tag Team fighting, Tag Ladder has been added with an option for a 2-player Tag Ladder, mini game challenges like Test Your Might, a Story mode which was absent in the old school MK games, and a Challenge Tower mode where players are able to complete various challenges like not blocking during a match and maybe much more......

Second: Confirmed character list

I'm going to give you the list, with brief descriptions(very brief), don't like mine, tough shit...

Boss Characters:
Goro - Shokan Prince and General of Shao Kahn's army, 9 time champion of Mortal Kombat
Kintaro - Egotistical Shokan warrior, thought to be the brother of Goro
Shao Kahn - brother of Raiden, emperor of Outworld, trying to take over the Earthrealm
(note all Bosses MAY be hidden playable characters)

Hidden Playable Characters:
Quan-Chi - a sorcerer from the Neitherrealm with no real alliance, and a hidden agenda
Cyber Sub-Zero - Not confirmed, but hinted at indirectly by creator Ed Boon... and Cyborg version of Sub-Zero

DLC Characters:

Kenshi - Blind warrior whose latent abilities are unlocked by Ermac
Skarlet(?) - as of now, only know as the "Lady in Red", created because of the same glitch that originally created Ermac

There are many story trailers and gameplay trailers of all of the characters on Youtube, if you just HAVE to see them, so there now... so far, to me, Noob Saibot looks to be the most bad ass... and the new super moves aren't that overpowering(from demo gameplay so far)... the X-Ray moves are pretty cool and character specific... and the damage done reflects in the visual damage to the character, especially the X-Ray moves... the visuals are amazing, and the characters feel unique in every way.........

Now only leaves me wanting more... I will be getting the Kollector's Edition on April 19th(had it reserved and paid off for quite awhile)... and after a hands-on with the finished product, you will all be treated to the first ever edition of The New Gaming Review.........

Round 1............... FIGHT!!!
